Z4 Coupe Dimensions???

Anyone now the exact width of the car? BMW site shows confilcting information. It says overal width with mirrors is 1781mm, then shows a rear view of with 1904mm from ouside of rear tyres & the mirrors sticking out beyond this!!!!

I can measure when I get home tonight but being impatient thought I'd ask now,

Reason being I'm trying to plan clearances in my garage!

Thanks,
David

The rear track is wider than the front - but I'd just take the biggest number you see and add a foot to that :D

The mirrors do extend further than the rear haunches - although there's only 6cm in it each side.

This image shows the rear extending further than the mirrors, but it's actually the closeness to the camera lens gives a little too much of an orthographic effect.

I think your misreading the BMW info:
The brochure shows front track to be 1781 and mirror tip to tip to be 1904 (just happens to be shown on a rear view)
To mmm's point front tyre centre to centre is 1473 and rear 1523, so yes the rear track is wider, but the mirrors by a long way are the widest point on all models.

I purposely didn't quote the BMW figures as you'd already said they were misleading.

I'll get my measure out then shall I?

Right...
1.84m LHS rear wheel arch to RHS rear wheel arch
1.96m LHS mirror housing edge to RHS mirror housing edge

All measured using plumb line to the floor, and then straight line measurement from opposite points on floor, accurate to ±2m

BTW, don't know if the M is different to the non-M for rear haunches, but as you say the mirrors are the sticky-outy-mostly bit.

Glad we agree the mirrors are the widest point. If not I'd have been in deep sh*te as I use them to gauge my garage entry.

Interesting that actual measure comes out at 1960mm max Vs published 1904mm

That discrepency could be due to my liberal use of bluetack to hold the plum line (which was a bit of string and a nyloc nut), it could also be due to the wind, or BMW might have got it wrong, after all they do say RFT wheels won't work with normal tyres :)

I'd leave it at 2m - if it fits in at 2m, then you've got no problem at 1.96m or 1.904m
