Z4 Coupe 3.0 manual

Hi all,

I've been looking to buy a z4 coupe for a while just wondering if anyone could help me find or is selling a good one, my budget is roughly 6-8k if anyone is looking to sell one around that price please let me know.

I would particularly like one that has had an lsd installed but also not essential as I don't mind getting it done myself just a nice add on, but no worries if not :D

Thanks
Reece

Hi and welcome to the forum Reece.

Given you'd like to find one with an LSD I'm assuming you want a manual one, but it might be worth amending the heading of your post.

As a serial Coupe owner I'd recommend finding one with the M-Sport seats. All Sport models had them but quite a few SEs seem to have them, either as an option or retro-fitted. Standard spec was a bit mean so it's worth deciding if there are any "must-haves", like Bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats, rear parking sensors, Multi-Function Steering Wheel, upgraded stereo, Cruise or cup-holders. Although the last two are pretty easy to retro-fit.

Good luck finding the right one.

Hi thanks for the reply,

I definitely agree with the sports seats as I imagine the base model seats in leather chuck you around a bit in the car, was just wondering if you know how easy it is to swap them out? just in case I see one I like and it has the base seats.

I've also updated my heading aswell to specify a manual as you are correct not looking for an automatic, in terms of other specs I'm not to bothered just would like a clean example I think, need to do a bit more research tho.

Thanks
Reece

Welcome to the forum Reece. To answer your question, it is physically difficult but mechanically easy to swap the seats. I can speak from experience it’s much harder swapping the seats in a coupe than a roadster. I would definitely recommend at least one extra pair of hands attached to a strong person with a decent back.

The other issue is that M-Sport seats seem to sell for around £600/700 or more a pair, so you need to factor that in to the numbers if you see one that doesn't have them.

And some seat colours can be hard to find, so if you go for a different colour you'd probably need door cards too.

This one would fit the bill:

Hi z450,

You are right that one is perfect but the owner has already taken a deposit which is a shame as it ticks all the boxes really.

If that one had a champagne interior I might argue that would be close to my dream E86... carbon black, manual, low mileage, fair price. As it is I love the black interior too, so hardly a deal breaker. So nice. Wish it was me who had put down the deposit!

That black was a very good price, too, especially with the diff.
You dont see many with a diff as it's a fairly big outlay and finding someone to fit one can be an issue.
Good luck in your search.

I went to view that Ebay car on Saturday, it was more blue than black to be honest.

It was lovely, but there was a massive gap in the service history and it had quite a loud ticking noise on start up when cold, went away after it had warmed up, may have be lifter tick.

Was really rattly and the air con needed re gassing, plus had two different makes of tires on front to back (silly little thing I know). Plus whoever did the interior wrap did a poor job (again I know that's a silly thing). Steering wheel was a nice touch though.

Chap was nice but wouldn't shut up on the test drive and only let me take it up and down the road.

I'm sure its a great car and will serve the new owner well.

Thanks for sharing.

It's all those little things that turn a good car to a bad car.
Or a good car to a great car, if they've been sorted.

They all add up to leave a bad impression to some, despite how good the underlying car could be.

Yes, Carbon Black can look a lovely dark metalic blue in the correct light, most of the time, though, it's black.

I like black, but black that sometimes look dark metallic blue is damn cool.

TBF even with a few niggles that Ebay one was probably a good buy when you consider what getting an LSD fitted costs!

Carbon Black does look great in the sun, much like Ruby Black except that looks purple. :)

I did see the invoice for the LSD, was £2k plus everything in, was a lovely car and considering some prices out there people want very reasonable.

Arr that’s a shame not a surprise given the spec and price
