Z4 Boot bag

Can anyone help? I'm looking for a waterproof bag that straps onto the top of the boot of the Z (amongst others) I saw it once and now despite ages of googling I just can't find it again... I'm off to Italy in a couple of months camping so the extra space would be a bonus but I don't want to fit rails and a hard case for £5-600. It was a really good system that allowed the roof to retract and the boot to be used as normal. UK based too if I remember rightly.

Can anyone help?

Ah, cancel that, found it at

If anyone has any alternative bags I'd appreciate the website

rich-v, Not got an alternative, but I would be interested if anyone on here has used one of these. Looks to me that there would be a significant risk of the paintwork being damaged even with the cloth/foam sheet that appears to be under it.

Yes I think some adaptation would be needed: gaffer on the boot edges and perhaps cloth between the bag and grip mat. Suggestions welcome

That would concern me i would feel safer with a boot rack not that i would use one i can see that moving around a lot.

You could use a large drying towel underneath as they are designed to be used on cars and i would wrap the straps with a cut up drying towel.

Something like this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/microfibre-cloths/cleanyourcar-huge-39-fluffy-39-drying-towel/prod_634.html

Personally i would not use that just wish i could think of something else you could use.

It's almost inevitable that if you take a long drive with a softbag like that then there will be paint damage as dirt and dust will get in and scratch with the minor movement, even with a towel under it.

If I went this route I'd get a rectangle of the clear film paint protector and stick that on the paint and remove it when I'd finished. Failing that a piece of removabl vinyl from any local decal or sign makers, or even some thick cling film. Let the surface of that be sacrificial not your paint.

I bought what looks like the same thing from here:

The mat used is a material I've not seen before. Very similar to rubber but much, much softer in a sort of mesh pattern. The webbing straps are tough but soft on the paint. I used it for close to 1,000 miles on my trip around the UK last summer and suffered no damage to my paintwork, either where the mat was sitting or where the straps came around the boot. It has proved very useful in providing some extra luggage space. Completely water proof and folds down to nothing. I'm a big fan.
