easy now... thought id start the ball rolling with the one I've been hovering over to buy since i got my M... the bluetooth kit.

i know people moan about the worthiness of them, particularly in a convertible, but the oem factor is worth a lot to me, else id install the flashy SE one thats in a carrier bag in my garage... =)

the M doesn't come with the bluetooth standard?

i got mine upgraded to the bluetooth and can now make use of my steering wheel controls. But, just as you've heard, it works marginally at best.

Mine works fine. :idunno:
Starting to think this may be more of the phone being a problem than the bluetooth system. Someone posted about changing to the Motorola RAZR and improving the quality. BTW, I have a RAZR also.

Cheers!

Very interesting... I will have to get this tested asap!

OK.. So i bought a ULF off Fleabay, ordered the Bimmernav kit from the US, total cost now about £400.

I've been very handy in the past with taking things to pieces, whacking in stereos to hatchbacks in my teens whilst wedged in a footwell at 3am, but I've already hit problems. I'm not sure if anyone has attempted a retrofit into the z4, but i know it's been done in others and I'm hoping if I get on with it and document the obvious pitfalls it may help someone else..

So here's my resources, the BimmerNav Install guide & the proper BMW fitment guide which claims it's a 5hr install, assuming you've already got most of it in bits (which are covered in other guides..) I shall Scan & PDF this soon..

So, as I'm worried about breaking stuff - my first sticking point - those damn boot clips!

The bottom left and right I just can't remove - one pulls out half way and the other is behind the battery on the //M, so I haven't gone there yet, but should I just pull with force?

You will break them, but that is not really a problem. In the previous Z I broke them on carpet removal, and the carpet went back no problem on the remaining ones.

You could replace the broken ones with new ones but I never bothered ...
