Z4 Black Box?

On holiday, so little forum time at the moment. Go back 2 pages and Ranski told it how it is.

Mike confirmed above and below is a quote from BMW's site:

Design for Recycling.
Neutralisation of pyrotechnic devices.
During the neutralisation stage, pyrotechnic devices such as airbags, the battery safety terminal clamp and safety belt pretensioners are triggered using a standardised activation device. The neutralisation process is carried out fastest by deploying them in situ. During the development phase, the vehicle electronics are designed so that all pyrotechnic devices can be controlled and activated using one common interface.

Case proven...

This black box that cuts the battery cable in the event of what I think is the highest level of crash possible detected by the crash system is giving me airbag light issues.. 225 over the last year to be exact! according to the codes I have read from the safety module translated from german i am getting an undervoltage / high resistance from it. Time to clean all terminals I think! Perhaps the battery could be on its way out? Cranking the starter with a bad battery could produce undervolatage... a long shot i guess.

Cool. Like a battery ejector seat. Sort off :D

does the battery come floating back down to earth on a little parachute :D

I'm thinking we'll all be wearing flak jackets & tin helmets at the next meet
