Z4 Aux mode switching to radio on its OWN!

2005 Z4 with business radio unit (non navi).

I purchased an OEM female stereo wiring that connects to the radio.

I use Kinivo BTC430 wireless bluetooth receiver to play songs and receive phone calls on my smartphone.

Kinivo requires me to plug into AUX stereo for data and cigarette lighter for power.

Whenever AUX stereo is plugged in and I touch the cigarette lighter with the power adaptor from Kinivo, I hear a THUMP from my speakers as if I'm short circuiting something....They BOTH have to be plugged in for this to happen....when the thump is heard, it switches from AUX to radio and it WON"T LET ME SWITCH BACK TO AUX.

Once I unplug the power, it lets me switch back to AUX again..

I checked the fuse box and cigarette lighter's fuse is fine....

What might be causing this to short circuit? It's annoying because I can't use my AUX input at all in this setup...

Did I get a bad OEM wire? I had to crease OEM wire to fit into tight placed...did I break the wire possibly?

Kinivo works beautifully on my other car so that is not the culprit.

Sounds to me like the power thingy doesn't fit the cigarette lighter very well and switches off/on like the person above said.

Many people have had random connectivity issues using the lighter socket as a power source. The BMW version apparently does not quite meet the industry standard dimensions. If this device remains in the car and you use it a lot, you should consider wiring it to the fuse block using an appropriate fuse tap.
