Z4 2007 electrics flickering

Hi All

As I drive along, the radio randomly switches on and off sometimes only once, but this evening it was every 30 seconds towards the end of my journey.

I then noticed that a number of warning lights flashed on the dash at the same time and the headlights dimmed, although they never switched off fully i dont think.

It was as if the electrics where shorting out but immediately coming back on.
Anyone have an idea what could be causing this!?

If it was me I'd remove the battery termials (-ve first) & give everything a good clean, & make sure they are tightened up properly, if the probem persists get your battery checked out.
 
hey peeps, this problem is still persisting.

I have checked over the battery and all is good.

It doesn't happen every journey just sometimes, and so far only after about 30 mins of driving,

I have bad condensation and water build up in my passenger side headlight - could it be this causing the problem? anyone else had this problem even?
The radio goes on and off and 5-6 warning lights flash on and off. can happen once, couple times or consistently every 45 seconds or so.

No other problems with the running of the car, and when left over night no issue starting (so no flat battery/dying alternator etc)

help!
 
Did you check all the connections on the battery system, not just the posts but where the cables connect to the ground (earth) and if there's a Junction box in the back somewhere check it as well. My E89 had an issue with loose conns on the ground after a service, the radio started showing strange symbols (hexadecimal) and then it all quit. No juice anywhere.

checked all, all good connections

no all originals


it's really strange, this morning it happened couple times at start of journey then once half hour later, rest of the time all good.

hopefully it will be good weather this weeked and I can go over everything again.
