Has anyone had a problem with their electrical system? I am getting a P1515 error code (Manufacturer specific code) and thus can not pass smog. Payed BMW to check up on the error code and they sad it is an instument cluster error code to replace the entinre insturment cluster. ($2300+ to get a new one and install). But i don't trust that this will fix the real cause of the code and thus would just be a waist of money (might be wrong).
Online i find that P1515 is "Electric Current Circuit Malfunction" which sounds to me to be something related to the current; i have been having some problems with my electrical system. Like the sound system turning of by it self while driving and back on; Or changing channels all by it self.
Any suggestions?
My next step is to try to pass smog with the code (most like not going to happen). Then take out the radio so i can inspect the guts (wires) for any damage that may cause a short or an increased drain in current. After that i am at lose. My last resort would be to try the 2300 BMW fix, but i am skeptical.
BMW z4 2003 - 3.0i - No eng mods.
Thx
Manuel
