My tame tuner for my upcoming TTE500 turbo upgrade requested a health check of the current engine and its systems prior to applying a custom tune for the new configuration.

So for those not au fait with this I thought I’d show a sample..

You can go to my website to see and play directly with the two logs I did today..

https://www.spoolstreet.com/graphs/z4-e89-35is-v10-stage-2-first-attempt-at-data-logging-prior-to-fitting-tte500-turbos.25768/?attachment_id=80102&series=12,19&zoom=-1,86

So the technique is to switch on MHD data logging, in my case using an iPad and a MHD wireless OBD adapter..saves lots of wires in the cabin.

Find a quiet piece of road..start rolling in 3rd gear in sport mode…then floor it..

I have to say on my private test track it’s quite challenging to keep calm until it boots in to 4th near the redline..

Pictures show various static alternative sets of data plotted against rpm..

The highlighted selection table at the bottom shows which parameters are selected..it gets too confusing if you have two much data on.

If you go to the website you can toggle and play with the two runs..

Subsequent analysis from my tuner confirms all is well at 400 BHP in the current configuration.

Enjoy..

I have been wondering how to do this... In my old MPS days it was easy to to a WOT run as it was manual so just put in 3rd and floor it, is yours the manual box?

[ref]B21[/ref] are you maxing out the charge cooler? Those IAT look fairly toasty to me. Something around 60C would seem more reasonnable, particularly with the kind of ambient temperatures you must have.

But the DCT box into manual mode, select 3rd…floor it..auto shift up at 6,500 rpm as programmed by moi in xHP

Also why no fuel pressure one?

Here you go..if you go to the website you can select whichever I recorded..some 25 variables out of nearly 100….

Hi yes part of the issue running the small turbos quite hard is raised IAT, plus bar and plate FMIC be it a Wagner version shows the limitations..

Still the post turbo temp is around 130c so it is doing something ..

We will see how the similar sized tube n fin Evo Comp will do..along with bigger turbos running less hard..that’s the beauty of data logging..separates facts from perceptions… :tumbleweed:

With what I now know I might have gone for their bigger intercooler ..maybe a bit late now …

Hey,
Here is my log with updated turbos.

Thnx what FMIC are you running?

That’s on E45 fuel?

STOP PRESS

After doing the data logging and looking at the likely impact of IAT and size of intercooler I asked Wagner if I had could have one of their really bad boys..the Evo 3 competition version..

There’s only less than £200 difference between the Evo 2 and Evo3…so I asked Wagner UK if I could part-ex the two for the difference and they said yes!

So the big boy arrived today and as they say size does matter..

Given in the UK we don’t run ethanol mixes with their cooling attributes keeping the inlet air cool should reap bigger benefits..

Also the flow rate is much much better..

Downsides…

A bigger, heavier lump right on the nose..

Theoretically some delay due to a larger chamber to get charged…not sure on this one..

Onwards..Warp Factor 6 Mr Zulu! :tumbleweed:  :driving:
