Boogle's pic has really made my heart sink. I dread something like this happening, so much so that I don't tend to ever leave the Zed parked on a street. I feel for you guys.

Ye, it's scary how similar the scratches were - both on the same day in the same place. I'm glad you posted though, the comments on SMART repair will hopefully save a small fortune.

It did briefly make me consider switching to a cheap car that I don't care about, not sure about you? I found the solution was to take it for a quick spin - now I'm happy to hand over the cash for repairs

Firstly, don't let these jealous pricks affect your life to that extent. Secondly, have you considered a cheap and nasty shed (I use a battered 10 year old Polo!) to use for commuting and/or when you have to park in not so good areas?

I just got rid of two cheap cars to trade in for a brand new corsa vxr (needed something a bit safer to ferry my baby boy around in. That car is 3 times the price of what I paid for my second hand zed in January, so going back to three cars isn't really an option, insurance etc etc.... The corsa is just a tool, albeit faster and more powerful than the zed, but in my eyes its still a tool. If that had been damaged id have been less upset. It's funny how that works!

As for the remedy, I drove home after dwelling on my bad luck all day and by the time I got home I knew that it would be worth paying for the repair and just keeping everything crossed until I get into my new house in Sept that has a driveway!
