Yellow Oil Light Comes on after engine switched off?

Hi all,

Had a random thing happen twice now, a couple of times when I have driven the car, I park up and when I switch of the engine, the oil warning light comes on.

Have had it on short and longer journeys, have had a mate plug into the car and showing no errors.

This is when the car is turned off completely with key out of the ignition. then goes off after a while. :|

Have checked the oil level and its fine. Any Ideas?

Is there a specific oil that I should go for? as I guess the last oil change was on the inspection 2 service (9800 miles to go) before I got the car.

It only does it now and again not everytime either.

just needs topping up with the correct oil , just pop in to your nearest motor factors give them your car reg and there will tell you what oil you needs. about a litre will be needed .
 
Having read this thread properly now. I agree with the statements said previous (about the oil). This happened to me, added 1 litre of 5w-30 and problem was solved.

The engine will be ok whilst at the low end of the normal range according to dip stick, but wouldnt want it to drop much below that.

If this doesnt solve, could be a faulty sensor. I had this in my E46....
