Yellow EML, brake light, DSC light and engine light

Hey All, I own a 2003 BMW Z4 2.5L (Hair dresser jokes welcome=D)
I have check the forums and found similar but slightly different issues and was hoping someone could assist me.

So the other day, I was driving around in the industrial area and I decided to take some corners fast when all of a sudden my traction control light came on permanently (not flashing). a few seconds later the car beeped and I got a yellow brake light.

The car cut out power so I pulled over and turned it off and turned it back on. I then received the two above lights and the EML light and Engine light. The car was in limp mode and throttled weird when I accelerate (best described as, revs to about 1700 then cuts out, revs, cuts). The throttle does not respond the way is used to, even in park it doesnt rev.

I had a similar issue about 1 month ago because my battery was 10 years old, I changed the battery which fixed it. During that time, I only received the weird throttle, EML and engine light.

Some stuff I've read is it could be throttle positioning sensor, throttle actuator, dsc module, wheel speed sensor. Oh and for 6 months my OBD tool cannot connect to the car... so i cant get the codes, ive tried 2 different OBD scanners and they both dont work. I have checked all the fuses and they seem fine.

Ive tried my brothers battery which is from a bmw e46 to see if it was the battery however no changed. Ive removed and cleaned all the speed senors. Im reading that its more than likely the DSC Module.

As I said, Ive sighted some other posts about it however none mention the "engine light" with the other 3 lights. Any help to diagnose the problem would be appreciated

I've attached a video of the way the car throttles, the brake light is red because the handbrake is on while I try to throttle

The one you don't want is DSC module, I had that at a cost of £2300. BUT I never had the limp mode or EML lights you have, so hopefully its a simple problem. Do you have anyone with access to a code reader, this is the easiest thing to do first as there could be many reasons for those lights. You need to read the fault codes basically.

I got 2 code readers, both work on other BMW's and other cars, both dont work on my car. My OBDII hasnt worked for about 6 months, Ive checked all the fuses and stuff and nothing. I might just pay for a person to come out and grab those codes maybe with a better scanner tool.

Yeah all the post i've read with the DSC module or speed sensors, dont mention the amount of lights I have coming on, so kinda frustrated

I can understand your frustration. :x I agree, get a [trusted] professional to do a diagnostic on it

Good Luck :driving:

So after a loonngggg day of diagnosing the car, the mechanic found out two problems.

1st - The combination of lights are most likely because the steering angle sensor has failed. So will be replacing that soon enough should fix the problem.

2nd - Any scanner wont connect to the car because for some reason the ECU stops it. When they removed it, The scanner connected to all other modules. So Ecu is getting sent away to be tested.

So at least I got an idea of the problems, now just to fork out the cash :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
:poke: :poke: :poke:
