They are not xenon bulbs, they are just standard halogen bulbs with a xenon gas inside them. A xenon bulb requires a source of ignition (ballast) which is alot more than 12V to fire it up (usually about 85W). This then ignites the gas in the bulb which burns intensley bright.

These are just a cheap imitation bulb, the kind you will see on eBay for a few quid.

Besides, the main headlight bulbs in the Z4 are H7 and the ones in the pack are H1 so wouldnt fit anyway

hope this helps :)

cheers matey  i did think that was the case having looked on the 'bay.

any idea about bulb kits for xenon equipped cars-on the unlikely ( ) event of getting done for speeding on the continent again i don't want to give them any more excuses to fine me!

If you search eBay mate there are plenty of replacement bulbs that are around £50 per side. Main dealers are more than double that figure.

I have never had to replace one so cant comment on any specific replacement ones that arent OEM but maybe someone on here has.

Good luck with your search

Are those for true Xenon (HID) replacement bulbs?

My 2008 just has halogens for both the high and low beams. I want to replace both pairs for HID's but I don't think I've ever seen someone attempt to do them both. I'd need to find a way to mount 4 ballasts... :o

Yes thats just for a replacement bulb. Dont hold me to the prices but its what I seem to recall them going for.

Think it may be tricky to fit 2 ballasts per side, even the ultra slimline ones would take some doing. :(

That seems a little crazy considering you can get HID retrofit kits that include both bulbs and all the electronics for what appears to be the price of one replacement bulb. Although probably makes since if they are factory replacements from BMW.

Yep. They are replacement bulbs for cars equipped with xenons. Just have to ensure the colour temperature is the same as what is in the car at present otherwise you will have one different to the other (only if you replace one of course)
