Wynns Injector Cleaner Petrol

Hi all,

Basically after a bit of advice. I got some of the above mentioned stuff for free at work and just wondered if this stuff is safe to use? Nothing that I know of is wrong with my injectors but at 70k (3.0si coupe) I thought it couldn't harm it by sticking some in. What I don't want to happen though is this to cause any issues when I don't currently have any!!

If there's nothing wrong with your car, then why use it :poke:

Would you ask for a colonoscopy if you weren't having any symptoms :P
 
Lol, well in that case its also like colonic irrigation, I don't need it but it might make me feel better?

But do you want to take the risk that it won't split your colon and let all that waste float freely in your abdomen :poke:
 
These are some pretty awful analogies.

it was free and I like a bargain so picked it up. Now I'm unsure if I should use it or not.

Has anyone used this sort of stuff in their Z4 and if so are there any positive or negative outcomes?
 
It's designed for petrol engines isn't it? You have a petrol engine..........so what's the issue?
 
Suppose I'm worried it might "dislodge" something and be problematic. Maybe I'm over thinking all this, who knows.

... was just going to chime in that stories are legion of people using it 'just in case' and shifting plaque from the tank in particular, it should get picked up in the filters on our cars but unless you have a problem the benefits are going to be placebo as good quality fuels have detergents already.
 
Fuel cleaners are the additives in the super unleaded fuels like shell nitro and we all use them.
It ain't going to damage your so don't worry. Even better if it's free.
 
I'm always suspicious of "Snake oil" products. Advice from someone who's been involved with cars / bikes and engines for over 45 years (me) leave it alone. If your engine is running ok why use it? Best place to put these things IME is in the bin

Just be aware if you choose to use it anyway, that the inlet mainfold of the Z4 is made of plastic. I'd be making sure that the solvent base of of the Wynns product (and it will be a solvent based, designed to shift residue) isn't going to damage anything in there.
 
Fifth gear did a test with petrol injector cleaner on a VW Corrado VR6 and got a 6hp improvement, it's got to be worth using - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQN-0zvZNbY
