Wow, very impressed indeed.

Hi Guys,

So I picked up the zed on Saturday and after a 3.30 hour drive back from Newcastle and after a day on the country roads today I have to say I am very impressed. Coming from a 911 C2S 997 to the Z4 I thought it would be hard to get the same sensations that the Porsche had in abundance. However apart from the massive power of the porca the Z4 handles and behaves much like the 911, and the build quality is on par. What a stunning car the Z4 is, I opted for a manual 2.2 and must say that the engine is as I had herd, smooth as cream and enough power to blast when you need it. Being my first soft top I was pleasantly surprised once the top was down that I felt secure and road noise wasn't half as bad as I thought (easily hear the radio) and not as wind swept as I was led to believe. So all in all a super little sports roadster with fantastic build quality, superb handling and silky smooth straight 6, BIG thumbs up.

Welcome

Says a lot for the Z that you can come from a 911 to a 2.2 and be impressed - they are loads of fun, glad you're enjoying it and the weather has sorted itself out for you 8)

I have to say that I don't hold brand loyalty to well, in the last few years I've had, alfa, audi, lotus, vw, porsche and now the zed. However the porsche being the last car before the zed. Nothing handled like the lotus, not even the 911 but seriously and hand on heart I would say bang for your buck the zed is way up there on quality, ride and kudos. Coming back from Newcastle 3 hours of motor-way crunching the zed was a real joy, power when you need it and an excellent pull in 5th when over taking(of course you all already know this), and smooth! One thing I would say though, nothing like German for build quality, everything is just put together so well. I would hope to keep this a while, probably the straightest, most original car I have ever had and I want to keep it that way right down to the dealer stickers! Have a great night guys, off to watch the footie;-)

VERY interesting hearing that from a previous Porsche owner!

Do you not find the 2.2 to be a little slow? The engine is SO smooth (had it in my 3 series) but it does feel a little lazy (may be better in the zed).

Have you got a sport button? I Imagine that'd help!

Where in the world are you also? Be good for a silver photoshoot.

Welcome! Hope you keep enjoying the Z.

Surprised to hear the comments from the 911, as I find mine a completely different drive. But each to their own!

What are the odds... another forum member going from a 911 (I had the C4 convertible) to a Z4 2.2i :-) Good choice

Seemed an obvious choice to me, style, quality, speed and handling and doesn't burn such a big hole in the pocket
