On the passenger seat overnight drain the battery?
Missus had to stay at her dads last night after he fell and got up this morning and the car wouldn't start. She put the key in and it clicked 3 times but wouldn't start and airbag light came on at the same time?
I'm not near the car as at home she has took her dads car to work instead.
But could that be the cause?
Also car will be 3 years old in January is this covered for a breakdown under warranty out to her dads house by BMW assist?

I dont see how the bag can cause that.

On my parents e90 if you dont leave the steering wheel straight then that can kill the battery overnight!!

Dont ask my how or why, thats what the dealer told them!

The wheel would have been pointing in to pavement as her dad lives on a steep hill?!
Will phone dealer when I finish work
Can you bump start a Z with the push button
Just wondering as on a steep hill as I said!

Good question on the bump start :idunno:

.......so tell her to give it a go so we can scrub that one off the list :D Hope it gets sorted quickly though

Will get her to call breakdown. First time we've had to use it :o
Car been good so far except the wee rear light water problem and cracked wheels

She just phoned me while typing this Car fixed :)
She phoned BMW breakdown and he said it was the steering lock?
Just wiggle the wheel then start it and it worked :?
They took a note in case it happens again.

Job done! Interesting though... do I take it that the immobiliser kicks in if the steering lock is on....?

Apparently yes! As one of the lights my wife read out to BMW was steering lock on!!
Assist asked the colour of this symbol which was amber.
They said that meant the steering lock had to be turned off by wiggling wheel then press start button.
So in nearly 3 years I've never turned wheels after engine off to engage steering lock

But that's the most basic anti-theft mechanism on your car!

I wouldn't dream of parking any car - even a rental - without engaging the steering lock :o

The new auto F30 3 series don't have steering locks. Have two of them at work, but the manual one does.

I never bother locking the steering either and have never heard of that feature. Interesting.
Always paranoid locking the steering near a kerb as you run the risk of damaging the alloys against the kerb.

Same here, always make sure it is locked.

The Z has a Mazda tribute dog mobile and a vivaro van behind it at home and the wife has a secure underground carpark under her work.
