Seeing as my MAF is on about 66k I thought it might be prudent to replace it, just as preventative maintenance. No particular symptoms of a failed one I should add.
I read a few things about The MAF shop, reasonable prices, ship from Germany, seemed legit. So thought I'd give them a shot.
Got my MAF today in the post, about 8 days from ordering so not too bad.
Packaging wasn't great, a few of those styrofoam things in the box but no particular protection. The Bosch box looked intact so wasn't too worried.
First thing I noticed was the security seal was broken on the box, no big deal to be fair, some places do this to add their own 'warranty' tag on the item, which turned out to be the case.
What was more concerning, was upon opening the box, I was greeted by a brown crumpled grease paper type packaging, not a problem again, something to cook my chips on later, bonus.
Assuming the MAF would be nicely wrapped in its own protective packaging being a highly sensitive and delicate electrical item, I was swiftly proved wrong. As I unwrapped the grease paper, the MAF was plonked totally unprotected in the middle. At this point, I had to have a laugh to be honest, almost presuming this to be a joke.
To probably no-ones surprise at all, the MAF was damaged, the wire being obviously bent and the MAF generally looking like a well worn second hand item. Not impressed at all:

I thought I'd whip mine out to compare my 'old' MAF and the supposedly 'new' one. Mines at the front, 'new' one at the back:
So I've emailed for a refund, don't even want a replacement. Hopefully they'll not mess me around.
I'm sure some people have had no problems with these guys, but for me, genuine costs more for a reason, I wouldn't risk going 'cheaper'. Even though it seemed totally legit. Rookie error lesson learnt.
This was a MAF for an 'M' by the way but will apply to others here I presume!
