Wiring diagrams and plug pinouts

I’m looking for the wiring diagrams of the E89 door wiring and the pinouts of the plug /socket where the wiring joins the door. I’ve searched and can’t see any prior info on this on the forums or on the wider www.

Does anyone know where I can find the relevant info please?

Thanks

There is no integrated overview for what you require

You will have to pull up each subystem and dig down AFAIK

if you take the door mirrors as an example

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e89-z4-sdrive20i-roa/wiring-functional-info/body/mirrors/exterior-mirrors/2dbIRwoj

You will see worki back from the mirror there are connectors X624 X256 X257 etc

if you click on each hyperlink that will take you to the relevent paage directly or via its own hyperlinks

Access is a procedural formality and then you are on your way

Appreciated. I’ll take a look once in - I’m after whether I need to add a pin/wire from the body side to supply the puddle lights and/or ambient lighting.

Cheers

I’ve not looked at it but would assume the harness will be there..that’s how it is with most ‘options’,...

My car had no wiring for lights, not just a case of buying and fitting.
For puddle and footwell lights I took a supply from near the fuse box, red wire, powers the roof through 20amp fuse. It's permanently live.
From that wire through a fuse holder 5amp, then through a relay contacts, which i operate coil from a wire soldered to the cabin overhead light positive on it's bulb holder.
Ambient in door i powered from the door window switch illumination.
Cabin ambient i wired through fuse and relay from the cigar lighter illumination.

I didn't have this wiring information when i set up my lights, can see it might provide a better, alternative solution.
Footwell module i think is above your right knee on RHD cars.

I stand corrected..did you check to see if there was power up to the door etc on the connectors or was there no wiring there at all?

Just suprises me as when I was messing with the audio it seemed like they had one common harness with just the final end connectors and wiring missing in most cases?

At the time of fitting didn't have these wiring diagrams which would have helped a lot.

Excellent - VERY helpful!

You’ve already answered one question which was to see if I can power the ambient lighting LEDs in each door from the window switch illumination (the door pull LED and the “light pipe” underneath the armrest).

Looks like I’ll have to supply a wire for puddle lights for each door - I guess you just populated a “spare” pin in the door jamb connector?

Where did you put cabin ambient? And the way you’ve wired it it is usually “always on”?

Thanks for the diagrams - they are a huge help.

Cheers

Same wire will be used for footwell lamps.

I threaded a wire through the rubber trunking for puddle lights.

I also fitted these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-LED-BMW-Moving-Illuminated-Front-Door-Sill-Scuff-Plate-Trim-Panel-30/153954712838?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225076%26meid%3Dc677bad1066243c1ad0d3ee6e9d6b9b3%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D153954712838%26itm%3D153954712838%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DBMW&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ab846ae65-2abc-11eb-bf79-fa3c10403abb%7Cparentrq%3Ae2c801591750aa4734d2e9e0fff1d38a%7Ciid%3A1

Previous set which fitted the shape better, got damp, shorted and burnt out.
