Wireless phone charging.

Just got a new phone, Google Pixel 8a. It doesn’t charge up in the car, despite a lengthy run last weekend of 200 miles.

My previous phone, a Pixel 6, charged fine in the same car, WTF?

Any ideas?

Seems OK now.

I must have trapped a USB cable or something under the phone on the pad.

Doh! :topicclosed:

Yes, I've used other wireless charging pads and haven't noticed any significant heating up.
Good point about the apps  ...
That makes sense, when in the car charging tray it's communicating with android apps etc and constantly draining/charging the phone battery! :icb:

Mine has the capability for wireless charging but not one of the features included when I purchased it. Is there anyway it can be activated without the exorbitant cost of taking it to a dealership?

Currently just plugging the phone into a short USB cable

Not all wireless charging pads are created equal. The "standard" is 7.5 watts for iPhones and 10 watts for Android phones but iPhones can safely charge at up to 15 watts (not sure about Android). They will certainly get hotter the faster they are being charged.
