Wiper motor very noisy

Hi All,

So with the first bit of rain since acquiring my new Zed, I have noticed that the wiper motor is seriously loud and sounds like a box of gravel. Is this commonplace?

Going to whip the covers off at the weekend and clean/grease the linkages, but is it likely to be the actual motor?

Anyone every had similar issues?

Thanks in advance.

Hi my wiper motor linkage failed about 5 months ago, just the ball joint at the end of the driver arm part. I still have the motor and linkage stored. If you need a replacement contact me to discuss a price.

I have a complete wiper assembly thing, £10 collected or £20 plus postage and packing - see my parts advert.

You may get away with greasing up the joints though.

Just a quick update incase anyone ever searches for a similar problem in future.

Turned out the actual motor was full of water (check your drain holes!!!!).

So not really wanting to spend any money, (something hideous like £160 for the motor/linkage from BMW) a few hours googling, and a bit of a gamble on ebay, I picked up a wiper linkage and motor for a ford fiesta of all things for £9 delivered. Visually looked to have a very similar Valeo motor to the one used on the zed in the pictures so thought worth a shot.

Anyway, it turned up, all looked good on a strip down, so swapped over all the motor and windings on to the BMW linkage/housing, and now I have super silent wipers. Winner.

Job jobbed, as they say.

My motor is playing up and the faulty wiper fix doesn't help so I need to replace the motor/linkage according to my indie, which fiesta motor did you find that fits? Looking on google images non really look like the Z4 one?

The ebay ad said it came from a 2006 ford fiesta and quoted this part number but have no idea if its right, 2S6T-17B571-BC.

Hope that helps :)
