Winter wheels?

Hi

I'm after some winter alloys and tyres for my z4. I currently have 18's but think 17's would be better, especially with the greater profile rubber. Can I get any 17" bmw 120pcd alloys or do I have to worry about offset as these all seem to be different.

Any tyre recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Find an offset similar to your current wheels? It really doesn't matter if it's a little lower than your current wheels.

The Dude is doin it right only go for the rubber first
Wanted a set of winter rubber for our A6 & it,s taken me the last 6 week's picking up single tyres along the way but got my last one at weekend making a matching set of 245 40 18 Pirelli Sotto Zero's all on 5mm for £130 :o

just need some suitable wheel's now

I may be wrong!

you have been warned.

I think you could fit 205 50 17 tyres to standard 17" wheels, saving quite a lot of cash and having better grip. Wide tyres are reputedly less good on snow.

I would also be tempted to buy new winter tyres because the wheel set may well last you a decade and that could leave you on superannuated rubber.

You can go down or up on sizes to a certain extent but if buying used there is very little difference in prices .
Also the notion of keeping a set of wheel,s or a car for a major length of time (over 5 years ? ) is not the norm

Recommended size for winter tyres for the e89 is 225/17/45 all round and the offset is 27

That's great, that's the size tyre I was looking at, just didn't know what offset wheel I would need. I currently have the 325m alloys so staggered and don't know much about offsets, so atleast when I have a little look on eBay I know what to look for.

mr Wilks.
. I have been running my van for sixteen years, from new. My Passat lasted eleven years, from six mnths old. My Saab died after ten years but I did buy it when it was a toddler.

I find the inconstant and throwaway culture completely bonkers.

sars.
wotcher!
We should have a day in Whitby some time soon, the autumn maybe?
I should get off my arse and arrange something.
