Winter tips for

Might not work to keep windows from freezing, but been impressed with Rainx.
One of those products you think probably doesn't work, but works well.
I wonder if it might stop the windows freezing up.

This is a productive evening for me tonight with my posts... Must get a lottery ticket this weekend

So here is the item, product..

http://www.defa.com/en/automotive/warmup/products/interior_heaters/termini_series/termini_series/

I have only just got the link so more research needed, initial look seems to point to an adaptor lead to enable you to connect mains externally to it for it to be powered. It could work for me as I have an external socket near where I park on my driveway.

Thoughts any one...

Resurrected rather than starting a new topic because....

One of my FB friends who lives in Finland posts about the weather and how he has a nice warm car to get into every morning because of his interior heater. So, I query the set up with him and he sends me the info.

Basically a mains powered heater on a timer that automatically heats the cabin for you! Sounds like a cure to winter blues with doors and windows freezing shut for sure, also results in clear Windows, no frost 8)

So any one done this on your cars already and care to elaborate

Link and details to follow shortly when I get my head round loading the picture and web site link

or, as I do, have a heated garage..... :D

There are those who have and those who do not, as you can probably tell I fall into the latter

I have a good sized driveway and an outside socket to power this if I can work out who and where to buy the heater and adapted from :headbang:

My Friend from Finland mentioned this as he has done this to his car too.. I said tell me more

This speeds up the engine heat up process, when you read up on how it does it, it makes you wonder why it's not part of the OEM on cars tbh!

I'll be installing one of these as I fequently visit Poland and Norway over the winter months.
Winter tyres, cold-climate ccv system, hardtop and other winterzation measures already implemented.

A decent car cover will keep the frost off the car unless we get really Arctic weather. Always used one on my cars in Winter.

That's a very interesting device - not sure there's a huge market for it over here, but in Finland etc, I can see the appeal. I'm not convinced on the mains powering as I'd have thought a more mobile version would be better.

For us, my car is fine (Garage etc). The wife's, which is stored on the driveway, has a mobile device. It involves sending me out with the keys to de-ice and start the car 5 minutes before she has to leave for work

:D That's married life for ya!

I saw these being used in Norway last time I was there and they seemed to be gaining in popularity but I heard stories about insurance companys objecting. Possibly due to the requirement to leave the bonnet ajar to feed a mains cable through.
However, I'm researching this atm as I'll be travelling to some cold places over the winter with the zed. thinking about powering it internally with some form of portable UPS or so.
Got caught out at the forest south of Wlocktawek in Poland a few years ago where the car I was using completely froze over due to a freezing mist then cold breeze. Took about 2 hours to de-ice and coax into life!

Winter tip from Canada: 40 psi in tires (tyres) mothballs in engine bay, dryer sheets in cabin and trunk (boot), trickle charger connected and plugged in, fuel stabilizer added to full tank of hi-test/premium, car cover in place, mouse traps set in heated garage, insurance coverage reduced (liability canceled).

I thought everyone in Canada migrated to Florida in Winter?

Not after yesterday's election results, perhaps ?
Nice to see this thread still active; The Zed goes into hibernation again tomorrow AM at the same storage facility as last year.
