Wing Mirror Glass

Driving along and the drivers wing mirror decided to fall out and smash into many pieces!

I have done a quick search but unsure as to what exactly I need (seen threads mentioning £100+ cost re wing mirror).

Is what mine looks like - assuming this is some kind of backing plate? Does this control the heating or are there elements in the glass? Is it a case of getting replacement glass and using adhesive to stick to this backing plate?

Should this sort me out?:

Need to get it sorted asap as just realised what a pain it is not having a mirror!!

Any pointers appreciated

both mine have done this- a real pain- i replaced the drivers side full thing as the glass smashed- 100 quid like u said.
I glued the glass back on on the passenger side and have had no issues with heating etc

That exact thing has happened to mine and a few others on the forum....

The heated pad is still intact so :D

One from ebay should do the trick, no need for a heated version as the heated pad is what you can see. Dealer is indeed £100 + but I declined their offer and bought the ebay one :D for about a tenner :D Obviously not quite as good quality but you really cannot tell once in the side mirror.

After my drivers side one fell out, I touched the passenger side one and it fell out in my hand :o

Cheers Guys

So

Using the supplied self adhesive backing should be ok? As you say I'd rather choose to not spend £100 if this will do the same job!

Im unsure if my car has auto dimming mirrors as not had it long. What effect if any would this have on my propsed purchase?

Thanks
