hello everybody
wonder if anyone has had a similar problem - have a 10 year old Z4, suddenly while driving down the motorway in torrential rain, the windscreen wiper stopped at one side of the screen - making it pretty dangerous! the wiper was on the constant setting, rather than intermittent (based on the rain sensor). Nothing would make it re-start, apart from stopping on the hard shoulder, switching the engine off and re-starting the car. Again, I went a certain number of miles, and it stopped again and I had to pull up on the hard shoulder and switch the engine off and on again, to make it return to its resting position and start working again. So it seems to be happening at random times and without warning.
Anybody have any ideas it could be? I took it to a local garage who ran a basic diagnostics on it, and said although the test came up as 'faulty windscreen wiper', there was no obvious easy issue that could be sorted out, and the next step would be to look at the 'motor'??
Before I take it to a BMW specialist, it would be useful to find out if anyone has had similar problem and how it was resolved, and potential costs involved? If it will cost a lot, I might as well just change the car, I don't want to spend more than a £1000 on electrics etc. when it isn't prbably worth more than £5-6,000 all in all, and it might be a sign that bigger problems are looming around the corner....
Thanks!
