Windscreen Washer issues - no flow!

Hi all,

My windscreen washer currently has no flow, i can hear the pump in action once I press the stick, but nothing comes out.

I did clean the filters around 6 months ago, which were completely blocked, and then it worked fine. This time i might have forced algae past the filter through excessive trying of pumping it, which turned from a dribble to a complete blockage, so im thinking it might be the pipes/nozzle head.

What would you suggest trying first? Car is a 2006 Coupe

I'd pull the pump out and see if it is actually working first, i.e. the electrical motor that you can hear is still connected to the pump components.

Or disconnect the pipe from the pump unit whilst leaving it in the tank, then operate washers to see if water squirts out of the pump outlet.

Good idea, I will try this first. If there is no flow, this could also be blocked filters. If there is flow, this could be blocked pipes/spray nozzle

As has been said first check the pump is actually pumping. If so then it's the nozzles and/or pipes which can be easily cleared with a blast from an air-line if you have access to one

I remember having to clean all the sludge out of the pump filter at the bottom of the resoviour in my E85.... and that was back in 2012!

Then the great flood happened next time I wash wiped, so worth a check as well

I think you are probably right about the alge op. Just thinking out loud, could you disconnect at the resevior and blow down the pipe.
