Bought the ///M six weeks ago. When I went for the viewing I noticed the perishing rubber windscreen seal.
Got the car at a great price (private sale) so was quite happy to put this good myself at some point.
At the top of the 'A' post on the drivers side, I can only describe it as if a small rodent had been gnawing at it (no pics I'm afraid). Also the top section running across the top of the windscreen was perishing really bad as well.
Went to local stealers...they said "£25 + vat for new seal, £40 + vat for the bonding kit and 3/4 hour labour + vat (Guessing £100 + vat). So give or take £190 to replace some rubber!
Then I thought what about a reputable windscreen specialist.
Well after a bit of friendly discussion (considering the actual glass was sound). They agreed to fit me a brand new seal and a shiny new windscreen for my £60 insurance excess.
What made me laugh was they said it was 50/50 whether the old glass would come out in tact hence getting a spare screen ordered in.....BMW forgot to mention that! Funny
