Windscreen Replacement

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help. Got in the Zed for a short trip and the windscreen misted up partially revealing two what looked like two large sucker marks. These are on the inside and are about 5 inches in diameter with radial marks. I have cleaned the screen inside several times over the year so cannot understand why these would suddenly appear??


The car went in the local garage for the starter motor to be sorted. (BMW indie) who are very good.

The screen has the following markings

Pilkington

E1 43R 001586

AS1M 1244 DOT 682
0
. . . .


My car is a 2004 3.0 with rain sensor wipers.



Am I just going daft as cannot understand why these two marks would suddenly appear on the inside of the screen?

From the window markings is this the correct screen in my car?

Several reasons these could appear, although seems odd that would suddenly do so.

Pilkington are certainly a well-known supplier of OE glass. My 911 had a Pilkington screen I know as I had to have the bugger replaced.
 
These sound like the marks left by the price board used by dealers inside the windscreen. It's not uncommon for these marks to linger for years, even though you clean the inside of the screen.

On my (new) 1 Series, there are marks from the build sheets they stick inside the windows in the factory, they randomly appear when the screen fogs up inside and although I have made them better through lots of cleaning, they have never disappeared completely.

Just keep cleaning he inside with proper cleaners and see if you can make it better.

I'd recommend Vinegar, newspaper and elbow grease to clean the inside of the screen. :thumbsup:

or have I already mentioned this elsewhere? :?

I just thought for a split second had there been an accident at my local garage when last in. Then regained my senses. I have used glass cleaner before on numerous occasions and not seen these marks. Oh well bit of manual labour tomorrow with good cleaner.

You thought they'd broken and hasitly replaced your screen didn't you?! :oops:

Not surprised it's taken you years; the marks are on the outside.
