Happy new year guys.
My windscreen is delaminating in the corner so will have to be replaced. I’ve never had to replace a windscreen so I’m asking what’s the best way to go about this?

Hit it lightly with a hammer and claim a new one on your insurance 🤔🤭😉
I get that part but I mean which one? If I remember right there was a post on the e85 section which said the seals or windshield you get from auto glass wasn’t from bmw and wasn’t a great fit. I’m just curious about other people’s experiences of getting a new screen. Is it best to buy a genuine bmw one or are replicas ok?

I used National windscreens recently and stipulated only genuine OEM parts….they where excellent and I’m very happy with the job .

Make sure you get genuine BMW screen, even if you pay extra. Don't let them fit a "OEM" Chinese screen.

First one i had fitted i could see it was wavy, not as thick as original.
Next day it had crack across it.
2nd attempt, i couldn't see through it due smearing in rain, even with new blades.

So i went back 3rd attempt and i ordered from BMW a screen and insurance met me half way on the glass.
Seems like everything is crap these days, even the BMW one has it's faults.
Never any problems with other cars with Triplex glass.

Cost, if you don’t mind me asking?

I went through the insurance company in 2022 and am happy with the result but it is not a BMW branded screen and given that my windscreen excess was £115 I’m not sure it would have been much more expensive if I’d paid for it all myself.
