Hi, Does anyone know what the standard BMW tint is on the Coupe? I believe BMW had this as an option as it didn't come on all coupes, mine included. I'm thinkin of having the rear 1/4's done and the rear screen. My cars black but i don't want to go too heavy....Any thoughts?

m400xey, don't know the tint, but I do know it will look good on your coupe if you go medium dark as you suggest

More importantly, give us a wave if you see me around - I am in Maidstone too

Mines a very dark tint, looks good imo. I would like to get the drivers and passenger windows done a little darker at some point. 35% is maximum allowed I believe

Don't know what the tint is but the option was Sun Protection Glass that covered tailgate and rear quarters. My guess is it's about 50%. Certainly very dark and more than 30%.

Will do! Thanks for the reply, I'll get some pics up once it's done.

35% on sides is legal limit but 1/4's and rear can go all out. Am thinking prob a 50% shade....

My rears and quarters are already done, they look great. However the contrast between the quaters and sides bugs me, hence I want to take the sides to the legal limit. I know you have to be careful with this as yes the law says 35%, but the windows will already have some tint so an extra 35% will take them over.

Wonder what the tint level is as standard?

Interesting with regards to the gradient I too have no clue but again as above "Sun Protection Glass" was a £110 option on Coupes which I certainly actively seeked out when searching for mine..

Typically a manufacturer tint will be c.30%. This doesn't leave much room for extra tinting. I've seen VOSA do a test on a standard drivers window. Was already close to the legal limit without further tinting :(
