Window Problem

Saw the topic about this a while ago but I think my problem is slightly different, so apologies for the new topic.

Noticed a few days ago the o/s window was having a problems, going up and down very slowly with a crunching noise as it does. Decided to stop using the window until I could get round to looking at it. Unfortunately a mate just now opened it half the way without realising then it wouldn't be go back up. Pressing the button it just didn't move a touch, but you could hear the switch noise when pressing it. Managed to pull it up by pressing the window button and pulling by hand.

However, it still nudges up when the door shuts and moves slightly (didn't dare to put it down too far), so doesn't seem like it's completely gone like other posts seem to suggest.

Is this still likely to be the regulator unit that's gone? If so how much am I looking for a fix at a main dealer? Doesn't seem to be any decent indies it trust to do something like this near me, so Batemans it is.

Ta in advance x

Think there is a repair kit available ? £50 ish ? + labour which if you are going main dealer put a book down your pants before bending over :P

Definitely the window regulator issue then aii?

Lovely, that rules the CSLs out for a month then haha.

Dont really have the time or space to do it myself and don't really know any decent indies I'd trust to do something like this in the south lakes area so guess main dealer it is :(

Response from dealer:

The breakdown of costs is below;
Labour £150.00 + VAT
Parts £130.55 + VAT
+ VAT @ £56.11

Total £336.66 inc VAT

Could try phoning for a quote from Lloyds at Carlisle might be a bit cheaper
Then ask Batemans too match it Ste

Mine is going in for the same thing tomorrow at David Paul of Warrington. They have said £280, so only £50 cheaper than your dealer, not too bad! The dealer here in Manchester wanted £500+

I have fixed it once with a 'easy to fit kit' but despite being simple to fix, the setting up of the window drops and sealing to the roof is a nightmare! Thats why I'm paying for them to do it for me, honestly not worth the bother.

Yep, sounds exactly like my problem which as suspected turned out to be the window regulator.

I bought the part myself from Eurocarparts for £100, then paid a local garage to fit it for £50 cash. However, they made a total balls up of putting the door card back in place (two goes at it too!). So in the end I bought myself a torx screwdriver and did it myself

At least they fitted the regulator itself properly.
