Window closing clunk

Anyone experienced the drivers window going clunk as it closes.

The sound is from within the door as if the mechanism has come loose or its catching on something just before it closes, about an half inch from the top.

I've not had this. Bouncing windows yes, caused by over sensitive anti trap, fixed by the dealer who popped in a relay to change the window timing. But no noises.

Hi Manic, I've been suffering from this as well and as the warranty period end in January i thought i would get this fixed now.

was there a technical spec or a technical service bulletin that guided the dealer to make this modification. I know that sometimes i speak to my dealer about common "forum know problems" they look all blank at me and deny all knowledge.

My windows bounced, but I think I know why!

The back qtr windows were up fully first, the front bounded down 80%.

Dropped the back qtr and the front/back button put them up properly.

I went and booked mine in to the stealers today and made it clear that there WAS a fix for the rebounding windows, The service advisor was a little clueless so went and check it out with somebody. He came back to advise that a reprogramming / reset of the systems was required and if that did not work, then if that fix did not work, there were new parts that would be needed inside the doors and adjacent to the widow motors.

So no timing delay relay mod.........

I got that same treatment last summer!
They said that they had re - initialises the windows - I think thats dealerspeak for "dont know, go away" As my car is a summer toy I will keep a close eye on it this year as its the last year of the manufacturers warranty.

I Have an update on the window bouncing issue.

After the dealer did what they normally do...... Reset / re adjust the windows etc...... the problem is no better and if anything worse.

This is the text from the email i received.

"Good morning,

I have been discussing this at length, we would like to make a new booking for a couple of days to get our master technician and BMW to work on this to get it resolved for you.

When would be convenient?"

I've said "great, but your not having it whist the weather is as good as its been". Now the weather has broken, i will let them have it.

I've only got five months of warranty remaining on mine. Unfortunately they don't bounce down every time so its difficult to demonstrate. Sods law being what it is they work perfectly every time I take it into the dealer.

I filmed mine and presented that to them!!

BUT, sometimes LH side, sometimes RH side sometimes it works no problem. :x

I reckon I'll get the holiday out of the way then go back in and say "apply the known fix"

Hiya, did you ever get this resolved and the explanation for it as it seems I have the same issue.

Mine bounce too when I raise the roof or use the global-up switch. Not always though, just enough to be random and annoying. Usually the passenger side.

Hi Everyone

Hello ronk ..

I believe there is a software update for this, on our 35is the sequence on the LCI 2014 model is different to the older models. I have seen this the sequence of closing and opening of all 4 windows is slightly different.
It looks like some dealers carry out a relay mod .. but I am pretty sure there is a software upgrade that fixes this

My BMW dealer confirmed this when we purchased ours as I new about the problem, My wife has mine at the mo but can film the sequence if that helps when she is back ? you can then compare with your own model

Also noticed the original post was about a clunk issue, ours does not do this .. the above is reference to bouncing window issues ..so abit off topic

hope this helps
