wind deflectors.....

I've currently got the gimp leather type wind deflector fitted to my Z but not really liking the way it hides the hopes so I was considering removing it, but was wondering what difference it will make inside the cabin especially at high speeds ??? Is it Un bearable without one or could I live without it ? ( looks like a pain in the backside to remove so thought I would ask the question )

Far better with than without , whatever the type. I can see why you not over impressed with the leather type.

I had the gimp mask one. Removed it and currently have nothing. You do notice a difference having it. Wind noise in the cabin is quite high. Somewhat difficult to have a conversation with passengers. Not unbearable though. I prefer the look without, rear visibility is better too with the roof on in my opinion.....not as dark.

I have the clear Perspex type, £60 off fleabay.

We had ours on a couple of runs before I fitted the Perspex one and the noise and wind blowing around the cabin was reduced quite a bit which was a relief as somebody said the Perspex one would make the turbulence in the cabin much worse as it was solid and not mesh.

What I found without a deflector was that in cold sunny weather when we drove it, the cold wind that blows around the cabin is quite harsh even with the blowers on. It's so much better now though.

Thanks for the replys, It's been a whlie since I've been in a cab without one but do remember it being quite blowy at time's, I think I'm just going to have to remove it and give it ago,
have you got a link for the perspex one ? I did have a look on the bay but they were all very expensive

Cheers

I've just checked back on my Ebay orders to see the lad I bought it from doesn't have any at the moment.

It looks like he's popped £10 on the price as well when he does have them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-WIND-DEFLECTOR-WITH-CLEAR-DUAL-LOCK-STRAPS-/231859110497

......as somebody said the Perspex one would make the turbulence n the cabin much worse as it was solid and not mesh.

I think to correct this the comments are that the Perspex or similar creates more turbulence than mesh. Without doubt Perspex is better than nothing at all.

Hmmmm, when I asked the question about using a Perspex deflector, the comment was that it would make the turbulence worse, as in, worse than using nothing at all which I found to be incorrect. Maybe I didn't phrase myself right with my comment above.

I would say the mesh style ones would be the best option as they would allow some of the air to pass thru them which would mean less cabin turbulence.
