Wind Deflector -DIY...

That looks excellent  and IMHO much much better than BMWs OEM effort which to me looks too clumsy and way over priced which is why I passed on it.

I have the Roadster Solutions deflector which I'm waiting for a nice warm day to fit as the ambient temp needs to be 70C to fit the brackets.

I wasn't keen on Just Roadsters deflector as the straps around the hoops look a tad amateur.

First perspex one I saw was on Johnnyfive's E85 last year, though is the full American monty product & looked fab - all the others fitted with cable ties look cheap & nasty. I wanted one but at £300+, my OEM Mesh one does the job perfectly.

This DIY one by comparison looks very professional, all complements to you...

You could consider offering to make it for £125 to forum members... though being a tiny bit picky would like to see the corners rounded off a little more

Choice, yup good answer....but on a 2012 car, OEM is the way to go...its like buying a B & B Italia sofa and putting Ikea cushions on it.....

Hit the nail on the head ...... Brand snobbery. The only way is London :poke:

LMAO! I just wish I even knew what a B&B Italia sofa was.....my life is now incomplete. Comes from living 200 miles away from London I spose :( - we sit on hay bales in our house, you just chuck em out when they start to get tatty and new ones are only £2 each  ....

I was actually prepared to hate this but it looks great - well done!

Holy crap, 70C to fit them, where are you taking it, the Sahara?!

I stand alone in my comments, sorry Henry, my thoughts are obviously cack, so job well done mate. I'm an old fart who left my Range Rover Sport behind because little 20 something's were buying them and complaining about the cost of parts and servicing...and I am old school when I say if you can't afford the upkeep, don't buy the car!!!

I am giving away my kidney grills away, and if anyone does fancy my wind deflector....I'm not sure I want it anyway...as long as I can remove the side sliding trim....someone is welcome to it!!

:D They recommend fitting the self adhesive brackets when its warm, so that'll be 2015 when summer returns :?

Tim, it was more the 70C... I think you meant 70F no?

   oops sorry yes 70F I wasn't sure about the brackets being self adhesive but reading on feeback on Zpost theres been no reported problems as the perspex holds brackets firmly in place.......I hope :)

I appreciate your initial comments and respect your position on this, it was never going to be and I didn't expect it to be to everyone's taste. I did go for the 'Blue Peter' version as I didn't fancy being ripped off!.

I now have a clear and tinted wind deflector for about £35 each... value?

I can now afford the service when it's due... :poke:

Cheeky feckers!!

Grills are already promised to someone who asked me ages ago...and the wind deflector has now gone too.....sorry

They will be sent when my bloody car comes back on its tour of Europe!!!

This deserves a "how to" status ;)

No problem...I will put something together shortly.

I will have to see if the company still has the template on file for the perspex deflector.

Always happy to share, details soon.

H3nry this looks good!

I await the how to as I was thinking along this line as well. My idea was to attach a fiting to the roll bar and have a tang sticking out to which I would attach the perspex/glass deflector, similar to the porsche version.
well done.
