Wind deflector and rear view visibility

I took off the wind deflector (honeycomb) yesterday and the visibility from the rear-view mirro dramatically improved! I won't be doing much top down driving for a while and even less so at speed so I'll keep it off until the sun returns.

I don't find it a problem with mine - even prefer it at night as it cuts glare from behind

I tend to leave it in, it is useful at night as Gannet says.
The main downside I find though is, it's harder to see if the lady in the car behind is attractive or not

I find the reverse. It cuts down the glare from behind enough to prevent the automatic dimming rear view mirror from working. I always try to remember to take it out for night driving unless I have the roof down.

As it takes literally 5 seconds to remove, you can even do it whilst sat in the seat, i have never seen it as an issue ?

I have a clear home made Plexiglas deflector and it is great. It is as clear as the rear window. I leave it in all the time. Best part? It cost me $25.00 and looks as good or better than the one I saw at the dealer, which was hideous. :(

Not with the roof up. And where do you put it?

Did you make yours? I don't have the skills :(

I have absolutely no manual arts skills. I only have hand tools nothing special. I had to make 2 before I got it the way I wanted as I scratched the first one. It is really really simple and I would send anyone a patter for a 2.5i if they would send me enough postage. You could trace that onto a piece of Plexiglas. You can buy a piece big enough at just about any home supply store to make two. Then you buy a short piece of aluminum channeling some double sided tape and that is it. If I can do, it anyone can as the saying goes. :)

I've had both, the BMW mesh wind deflector and the Plexiglas one from Roadster Solutions. The clear one is by far the best for visibility but I did feel that the factory mesh blocker did block the wing a Little better. All in all, I'd go for the clear one. You can install it yourself in about 20 minutes and the customer support from the vendor is great.

I have the roadster solutions model, very easy to install and I think it looks pretty good. As for blocking the wind, well in reality it's been a longtime since I have had to worry about my hair blowing around!

Its easy with the roof up, and it can go in the passenger footwell if you cant be bothered to get out the car.
