Will You Trade In Your Z4 in 2009?

I posted a reply to this topic but it seemed to disappear, so apologies if some similar text pops up from me twice:

I haven't taken delivery of my coupe yet (2 weeks to go, can't wait!) but after learning my lesson with a 2001 325 compact, i would prefer to have an end of line older model than an early new model. The Z4 has been developed and tweaked throughout it's production cycle - some will be major changes ike the 2004 facelift and coupe introduction, whereas other changes will be small and undocumented outside BMW, but they all add up.

So for reliability reasons alone, i would not jump straight to a new version.

A couple of areas that i think will be interesting are if BMW introduce active suspension as an extra (like PASM on the cayman S). This could mean that you don't have to compromise between comfort and agility when you're in the mood.

The other factor will be to see how far efficient dynamics is taken. If the new model is heavier (which it inevitabily must be), will economy be improved along with an increase in power output to more than make up for the additional weight?

Hmm doesn't seem like there are many takers for the new one then. I don't think I will be either, I'm finished buying new or nearly new cars like that.

Mines a keeper, although I would change for a Z4MR to keep forever.

You would have to keep yours with that massive hole in the dash :P

Dont Start on me now, Ive just started with the template, hoping to have Sat Nav in the next couple of weeks.

I still love my 'New to Me' 05. Since this is a third car for us I would say not right away. I do like the looks though, if the actual car is close.

Mind you, just looked at my dealers website and they have an '06 silver grey M3 CS with 15,000 miles for £26,850!! Tempting that! :D
Might be test driving the M3 CS this afternoon! :) Don't really think it will tempt me out of my Z4 though, but be nice to see how it drives!
Well, had a look at the M3 CS yesterday.

Keeping my Z4! Nice car, but just doesn't look as cool as a Z! :D

They have a Z4 M coming on sale soon. Their ex-demo. Red with red seats/black interior. Though about it but it would just cost to much more than my Z4 and for little real-world difference. Even my dealer said "Why bother selling yours for the M. It will cost you more everywhere and to what point!" Must admit that interior looked very drab compaired with mine also! :P

So, looks like my Z is a keeper! :driving:

I love my coupe but I wont be keeping it. I tend to change my cars quite often. The fact I have had this one for 16months shows that I love it.

The other thing is I rack up a lot of miles each year so tend to bin them when they hit 40K miles.

Planning on sticking with BM for the next one but not sure which model (335i m sport coupe in black possibly). But I do like to change my mind... Often...

You guys speak as if the new model has already been unveiled. Where are the pics?

I don't plan on selling my M Coupe though. It will be the start of a collection.

This is my first post, but I check this board daily. I am on my third BMW Z. I started with the Z3 and am on my 2nd Z4 - 2006 Monaco Blue, Beige, Beige. I will decide when the new model is unveiled, but I am leaning towards a 2009 Audi TT-S which is coming out in the fall of 2009. I never thought I would venture away from BMW, but this car has me thinking. :driving:

DAGSZ4, welcome to the forum...
Not that there is anything wrong with the Audi is there a reason(s) why you are thinking of going away from BMW?

The way fuel prices are heading and not to mention the road tax, probably a push bike !......maybe stretch to a raleigh chopper !

Thanks WLH. No, there isn't any particular reason why I would be moving away from a BMW. I always thought that I would be driving a BMW for the rest of my life. I love them that much and never before was brand loyal, but it is true that a BMW is the ultimate driving machine. I never like Audi's before I saw the re-designed cars. The 2009 TT-S is going to be amazing. I am waiting to see what the re-designed Z4 or whatever badge it has looks like and the pricing. Don't get me wrong I love my Z4.

I could only be tempted if they give away the final ///M's in 12 months when they sit on forecourts or as low mileage trade ins

cj10jeeper: What do you mean by this?

Hi LWS - Not heard from you for a while.

I love my Zed and could not see the need to change it to a new shape, or whatever comes next. To expand on my comment if in 12 months time if and when a new model is on sale, I could be tempted by a low mileage trade in or one unsold on a forecourt if the price was right. It would have to be a great deal to have sufficent 'wow' over what I have and to cover the inflated ///M running costs

... but you will have Mrs Jeeper drooling all over it as she did with mine :P

M is only manual though - would that be an issue?

She is well trained, polite and had no idea it was a manual when she drooled...lol
I would deal with any downsides of manual at the time and probably following a good dinner or short weekend break.
