Left England bound for Germany today. About a minute or two after leaving the runway. My plane was hit by lightening (twice). :-o

Boy was that a bright flash. Oddly enough. I was rather shocked. (no pun intended) That we didn't hear a thing. At that point in the flight. I imagine we were at about 250MPH or so. Certainly not fast enough to outrun the sound. The plane seemed to be fine though. I guess aircraft lightening strikes happen quite a bit. But this was my first.
The only passenger plane to out run sound was Concorde and some Russian piece if crap nobody cares about. So even going full speed in a Jumbo will not out run sound. But, even then, Concorde will only be going faster than the sound that is behind it. If there was a loud bang in front of it, or the direction it was traveling in you would hear the sound. Traveling faster than the speed of sound doesn't mean you can't hear anything, it just means that a sound can't catch you up. So if I did a massive fart, at about 110 decibels you would not hear that fart if you were traveling at faster than the speed of sound away from me. But if I did the same fart and you were traveling toward me you would hear that fart, and probably smell it too as a 110 decibel fart is going to be pretty bad.
