Wierd lock issue

This is going to sound odd.

Yesterday I noticed that the lock is slightly recessed from where it used to be in the door.

I swear the actual lock barrel was more flush to the drivers door, but suddenly overnight it seems to be pushed in.

I can even see a gap between the lock and where it fits on the handle frame. This is really strange as I have never put the key in the lock.

Has anyone else seen similar? Wondering how to explain this to the dealer.

Sounds like the carrier inside the door is coming unbolted allowing it to move away from the door panel.
