Potentially opening a can of worms but I have really liked the current Merc styling with the sharp line angles and aggressive looking front ends. In fact I nearly got the new slk but bought the zed outright instead if any PCP/lease.

However - what are they doing? Their new releases are all looking so frumpy, the slk looks ultra camp again :o

I doubt I'm alone but I don't like the current BMW styling either, with their 1-7 range, their x1-6 range, and no doubt soon there will be i1- ... ? Soon too, all looking the same. Meh. Moan over. Where does that leave you to go? Second hand old models, or the dark side of Audi.

I agree, the current c class looks OK, and the new one looks softer with what looks like a "bangle like" scallop down the side, im not a fan

I also agree that the current crop of bmw saloons and estates are ugly.

I dont tend to like audi either how they look or drive

we did just buy a 2010 e 220 cdi estate sport, which I am very happy with

Problem with the current trend of sharp lines and creases in car designs is they tend date quite quickly which is why I don't like the current SLK as much as the previous model. Looking at the SLK pic above I actually think its an improvement and less slab like.

Tim.

Owned various Mercs through the 1980's however, then build quality went off and I've never owned one since, suppose they're ok now though?

That doesn't look like an AMG Sport SLK, thank god!

First weekend away over Christmas.

I was talking about the facelifts Shambolic, yours is the 172 isn't it? The generation which I personally like, with the aggressive front end. I've spent a fair amount of time in a white 172 250 cdi AMG (brother's) and I love it!! I was on about the facelift which I don't think is out yet, the picture I posted shows the front end looking soft again.

By the way.. are you on SLK world yet?

The SLK is a hideously proportioned car even before the face lift. The rear is completely unresolved.
German car design seems so fussy these days with over sized and odd shaped lights and creases all over the body work.
Jaguar has proved you can make stunning coupe for 50 grand so why can't Merc? Porsche have at last made the latest
Cayman look good, but that was after years of bulbous toad like features.

So if I still have a credit rating in 5 years time it will be an F-type V6s for me. The Z will be up to 150k miles by then!
