Why do people do this?

I'll have to get pics up, but I came out to my car this evening with large splotches of a white substance on my car hood/bonnet. I rushed home and took a few pics then grabbed the Meguier's Quick Detail. Looks like most came off, but I have to wait until morning to see if there is any permanent damage. Guess it was soda or something, but I was devastated. Hopefully, there's no permanent damage, but I may need some help getting her back in shape. If I could find out what and who.......... :x

That's a shame as I know that sick feeling you get....
Let's hope there's no real damage....

That really stinks, Smokin'. :x I don't know what compels people to vandalize the property of others, beyond envy, spite, boredom, or just plain stupidity... probably a malevolent elixir of all that. And the more the markets tumble and economies falter, the greater the perceived gulf between "haves" and "have nots" will likely grow and fuel the flames of such acts... The key word is "perceived," as most people don't realize the Z4 isn't a 80,000.00 car.

In the past, I had my dark green Z3 egged (baked in the Tampa heat, no less), my GTi VR6 used as a beer bottle staging area (complete with sliding bottle scrapes), and, to top it all off, gold swastikas painted on my Audi TT (a slew of German-marque cars were vandalized that night).

So I can empathize with your frustration and justifiable anger.

I hope no permanent damage was done to you car, though some lingering distrust of others is forgivable.

All the best!

That's really sickening.

The stupidity, jealousy, envy, momentary madness, etc. of others to people's property nevre ceases to amaze me.

Let's hope it comes off with no residual marks.

Well, in the light of this morning (cloudy and starting to rain, grrr) looks like it all came off. I'm sure the wax is gone and as soon as it warms up a bit, out comes the clay bar and Megs Gold.

I really didn't think it would all come off without a mark-it was very, very rough on the surface and I was sure the clear coat was gone. The Megs Quick Detailer ate through it pretty quickly (I've seen it eat through bird poop). Thanks for the concern fellas, I was in a panic when I saw it. :)

Sorry to hear about mean folks damaging your car. Welcome to my world! I have had my Z3 vandalized 6 times, all at work too. Police think it is random, I am not so easily convinced! Federal Police don't think it is random either! However the last time it was attacked they destroyed my $350 car cover, not one scratch on the car, which was a relief! I get 10% discount on car covers being such a good customer and all! I also put in VIPER alarm system. No one responded to alarm and lights going off on car in plain view of 2 glass front office buildings. Now the alarm also notifies me when when triggered and I will respond! I am tired of mean people! We do what we can to protect our beloved Z's.

Man, JoAnna, that really sucks. :(

You know if those jealous knotheads would spend as much time working for good stuff as they do tearing up other people's stuff, they'd be rich.

Oh, and here are the pics....

you can see she's a bit dirty, but a clean spot on a dirty hood is better than what it was before!

Jealousy that's all it is. Glad it's come off.
Someone ripped my wing mirror off the other week and i had to buy a new one.

There are some real arseholes in this world.

Lucy - I feel for you on that - how mindless. Well my daughter's just gone one better (or shoudl I say worse) than this in escaping damage.

Went to a friends party stopped overnight and decided not to drive (as a new driver she's hyper sensible). Seems some idiots thought they would 'crash' this small girls only house party. When rightly rejected one ran off bonnet to boot over all the cars parked in the road :headbang:

Needless to say 5 minutes of mindless action by a teenager, has seen the police involved and no doubt some of these cars will be write offs due to the sheer amount of damage. I find it sickened by people doing this stuff.

Well I could say how punishment isn't harsh enough for too many people these days.

Government takes away the power for people to punish even their own children, and then won't enforce sensible rules themselves because they don't have the man power to, and then we wonder why we have kids and young adults acting like idiots...

I think the trunk monkey, armed with an Uzi, would be the solution. After a few days and kids shot by monkeys, no one would dare touch anyone elses property in a malicious way :fuelfire:

Man.......Lucy and jeeper, that's awful! At least mine, even if it HAD gone through the clear coat would have only been a trip to the paint shop. People have no respect anymore. :x

One night back when I was a head doorman of a big club I was driving home some of the guys, we came across a group of chav’s that were smashing cars on one of the boys roads. Their night of care free vandalism was abruptly ended by 5 enthusiastic gentlemen of mixed marshal arts background. He hasn’t heard of any car crime on the road since. Lol

Sure you don't want to visit the US?

Sorry to hear of everyone's trouble with people damaging their cars. I've had the same with previous cars, thankfully not so far with the Z, but sure it'll happen sooner or later, especially in the current climate (as someone else said above).

That story about the kids running over the cars reminds me of that idiot that ran over the Murcielago in London and posted it on Youtube.... couldn't believe it when that video did the rounds. Thankfully he was tracked down and ended up being taken to court, although I doubt the owner of the car got anywhere near what the damage cost ...

Wasn't that an Elise?
I remember the internet detectives went into overdrive on that one. Found them on facebook or something similar, bloomin fools didn't get away with it atleast. :x

I'm glad I can park my car in a garage at night, I'd be mighty pissed if someone vandalised it, bird poop is bad enough :x
