....first post in the ‘wanted’ section instead of coming here? Seems lately a lot of new members with low post counts go straight to the For Sale/Wanted section and then never post again :tumbleweed: . Just an observation :?

I would say (as I am new to the forum, but also old) that they don't know how forum works. I grew up with BBS, IRC's and forums, and they are parents of social networks that we know today, so I think they don't know how forum community lives.

If they came here first they would also not probably not need to tell us they cant send or receive pm's :D say hello, thanks for the welcome then make your wanted post et voila

I agree with that. I think the post count should be increased. Other free car/bike forums have quite a significant number of posts to achieve before a person can make a post in the ‘for sale or wanted section’ or PM.
There was one member recently just posted a dot ‘.’ as a reply. Nothing else, no text just a single ‘.’ Obviously to get his post count up to 3 and then the PM function was enabled. Will he stay a member and contribute to the forum from now on? Who knows. Hope so :idunno:

I done it right, didn't I dad??

I suspect many people are researching possible purchases and don't necessarily want to make new friends (it takes all sorts). I also think people feel an "outsider" if they start posting without actually owning a car.

Being new, I have found this place refreshing, to find a dedicated marque forum that actually lets you post freely without first putting your hand in your pocket. This place is also busy, which is good. Nothing worse than going into a forum where the last post was either two Sundays ago, or worse where only a handful of "die hard" members just talk crap to each other all day!

I have been onto many car forums lately. So many are not interested in new people unless you want to "join the club" with hard cash. TVR club is the worst, you can't even look at the forum without paying for the privilege. Ford RS club is not much better, 3 posts a day max or pay up. The attitudes of these clubs puts people like me off. Why would you "join" a car club before you bought the relevant car?

I haven't been around the car scene for a few years, so was researching various options. I used to be a well known contributor and paid-up member of the Mitsubishi Evo club forum (MLR) back in the day. I was South East Area rep for a while, too!
