Keep reading its normal to have a notchy gear change between 1st and 2nd gear change and replacing the CDV valve ( clutch delay valve) can remedy this. Anyone on here done this mod?

Paul

It cant remedy the notchy change if you mean regarding physically moving the gear lever. It will only effect the part where you take your foot off the clutch.

This was one of the threads I read

Mine has been removed, mostly to improve the bite feel and remove unwanted slip when pulling away more vigorously.

Never noticed it as much on other BMWs but on my M it seems really apparent that there is something stopping me change gear smoothly! Been quoted £130 for it to be done, including fluid change - only just had Insp2 so fluid doesn't need full change. Seems expensive, but not compared to a new clutch !!

I was just curious if any forum members had done something to there CDV and it improved the shift throw

Paul

I removed mine when i fitted braided brake lines and flushed the brake fluid. Can't say it improves the shift throw but it definitely smooth out and speeds up gear changes :D

As above it won't make any difference to the physical moving of the gear lever.

It is a mod worth doing though.

im guessing the 2.0i also has 1 to remove...... its just i always see on the websites offering aftermarket replacements never states "2.0" engine size?

If your in my area I will remove it for free...

Robbing barstewards!!

Wish I was. I'm in Berkshire & would cost me more in fuel to get to you!

Appreciate the offer though, just a shame you are not local.

Spoke to my local bmw specialist today and he said was a common request for the CDV to be completely removed.
