Who's driving to Zedfest Sunday morning from Yorkshire? Or further north?

I'm setting off from Huddersfield on Sunday morning so wondering if anyone fancied a convoy down there, not sure on the route yet but A1 would be an option then we could join a convoy from Newark http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=89405 and potentially arrive in a massive convoy of Zeds which would look awesome. Open to other routes though if someone knows of some excellent roads on the way down

Hi

I'm not decided completely yet if I am going, but I am in Hudds and wondered what time you were leaving ? Would be nice to convoy down as you say...

Would depend which route as to what time to set off... Joining the M1 at Jct 38 (so going via grange moor) would be the quickest looks to be about 1 hour 30min so setting off just before 9 to get there just before half 10

But I do prefer like the road through Penistone (joining the M1 at junction 35A) which could allow us to meet Paddy along the way (assuming he has his car back) and mean less time on the M/Way but that adds another 15 minutes to the journey time meaning we need to set off 15 minutes earlier....

PM me when you decided and well arrange which route and where to meet

Fairly confident I'll have car back.

We are heading down Sunday morning, but from Preston on the M6 - don't think that will link up well with Yorkshire route though :(

You'd have to go m62-m1 to do that which would add a chunk of time on to your journey

I guess it comes down to how scenic you want the route to be !

I do prefer joining M1 at 35A, and have used it a few times recently when working from my works Sheffield office. But if you want total scenic, why not do the trip through the Peak District towards Chatsworth House ! I have done it twice, but was passenger both times, and driver was relying completely on Sat Nav ! Awesome roads, but need to leave early to avoid local traffic.... As the Zedfest is so close to the M1, makes little sense venturing across country I guess...

Still in negotiations with the wife !!! If I do come, shes gonna drag me along to some boring weddings on her side of the family !! So Zedfest has gotta to be pretty special for me to do that !! :)

Do look to be some good roads down that way but would add an extra 45 minutes on the the journey, which normally I would be happy about if it was for nice driving roads but when it means getting up nearly an hour earlier on a Sunday I think it may be a bit much, also if theres a chance of traffic then going that much further out could mean we miss the parking for zedfest.....

Pretty sure I'm going to do the 35A route I'm setting off from Kirkheaton so if you are coming we can work out where and when to meet

Just sent you a PM with my mobile number. Let me know where you think is best to meet. If you are going Penistone Road, then probably around Morrisons, as neither has to take a diversion, or if you were planning on going via Brockholes and New Mill, then we could meet at the petrol station near the New Mill - Holmfirth road split.

Cheers
