Who tracks their Z4M?

Did you have track insurance & recovery, or has it been a very expensive Easter?
No insurance... I'm looking into that now but as far as I can see currently, this is non-existent in Belgium...

Money isn't the "problem". I did something stupid and I lost out. The car was registered on my company and therefore my company will be closer to not making a profit this year, which means not being taxed on profits. My way of seeing the silver lining on the dark cloud, I guess...

I'm not going on the track with an expensive car such as a Z4 M or anything... I'm looking into finding an E36 325i and fitting it out with some reinforcements, and use that as a dedicated track tool. Those people in E30's and whatnot seemed to have as much fun in their car as I in my Z4 M...

Brings tears to my eyes, really glad you're ok but something I've had sleepless nights over too.

No one has mentioned it and it might be in bad taste but are you considering breaking what's left? You seem remarkably unsuicidal (as I would be) and as it's not insured anyway it seems a reasonable question.

I've looked into that but currently the best change I have of getting rid of the wreck and having a bunch of cash in my hand is to have it sold as-is to a wrecker. I have people interested in the interior and the wheels, but I'm not looking forward to having the wreck towed to my garage and then after 4 months still having a carcas of bent metal left, stripped to the bones... I want to pick up asap a cheap car and use the money of selling the wreck to get another stiff ride by next year.

Trust me, I still drag myself to bed every night and don't feel like doing anything for a few hours every morning... I really have to exhaust myself to fall asleep...

Feel for you mate, real bummer. Made my stomach churn just looking at the pictures  At least you walked away with no injuries.

Ouch. Very upsetting pics :(

Thats the thing with the ///M as you rightly say its a very tricky car to master even if you've previously done some drifting practice you have so little time to react to sort things out.

A very sad tale Wooter...

I was just reading your original thread "Should I?" when you were thinking of buying, to showing the pics of your lovely new M, to the last pic which is the wreck! My jaw dropped.

Sounds wet, but this is what put me off the M Coupe and go for the 3L Sport as I believe it could be too much of a beast to contain all of the time, if you like to have fun and you're not the stig.

Anyhow, hope all works out.

The problem is... When you manhandle the beast like you should, it gives you endless amounts of fun.

This crash has me not put of off M cars... On the contrary... :)

Wooter - sorry to hear about that incident. You seem to have it in perspective and good to see the car being used like that.

Gareth - In response to your original question: I use my car on track. As long as you keep a close watch on the engine oil (should not use any more but pay close attention regardless!) there is not really a lot else to worry about. Except for standard brakes - they overheat very quickly so limit the amount of laps you do in one go and always allow some time with minimum brake use to allow cooling. (Push out the blanking plates in the cooling ducts too.)
