Who here has a second job/self employed...?

So who here holds down a second 'on the side' part time type job and what kind of things do you do for a bit of extra money? I'm guessing most people would do some kind of self employed/lifestyle type business that would fit in around their main employment?

The reason I ask is I get a fair amount of time off in-between my full time job and feel I could fill the time doing something constructive to earn a bit of extra cash on the side and learn something new. A lot of people have recommended learning a trade such as plastering/house improvements as these can be used for your own benefit as well as doing jobs for others for that extra cash....Would be great to hear from anyone who's gone down this path and maybe even turned their second job into a full time career!

What do you do for your first job? What are your hobbies, interests - it may give a clue as to suitablility for a second job.

Or it may make me train as whatever it is that you do so I can have some time off occasionally

We host international students mainly from Europe but also China its very rewarding currently have a German student stopping with us and will be having two chinese teachers shopping for 3 months
Not really a second job but its a good second income

I program and wire controls for machinery, been doing it for over 30 years, and have a well known name in the tobacco industry as for most of my employment years I worked for companies which built the machinery.

A while back I was hired as a controls engineer for one of the leading tobacco processing companies but I'm still approached occasionally to design circuits or program for my previous contacts.

As for my hobbies lol they tend to eat up money instead of provide any, motorcycling, fishing, and now tinkering with my Zed lol.

I sort of qualify for this, I've been retired for 2 years but recently took up a part time role with a major energy company as a technical consultant. I work about 7 hours a week and enjoy getting out of the house and mixing with others as well as some interesting intellectual stimulation.

A nice little top up to my pension as well!

I make bits n bobs for cars and just about anything else i am asked to make if i can (and its legal) And renovating and improving our house. Dose not supply an income But our loan to value figure has got much much better.

I teach danceclass ( www.dj-fille.net ) and yes it was my hobby before... :-D and my main job is in the IT bussiness...
