White Z4M Coupe being parted on ebay

Apologies if this has been discussed I was very curious why this car was being separated for parts?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364229270295

Is it just the case nowadays that people are parting them out because the value is more than the machine? Seems like a damn shame.

That was parted out like 2 1/2 years ago, I bought the x pipe and travelled to pick it up.

It was pretty rough, higher mileage and a previous cat C so wasnt worth much. More in parts as unfortunately most higher milage Z4Ms are at the moment.

Not really a reseller just a guy with a unit buying and selling as he had time.

With some parts becoming NLA finding them gets difficult and pushes up part prices, so unfortunately higher mileage cars are starting to become more valuable as parts than complete. :(

There have been a few broken for parts on here in the last couple of years.

I could easily get more for mine in parts than as a whole:
  • 40,000 mile engine
  • 10,000 mile old diff
  • recent clutch & flywheel
  • Recaro pole positions
  • Brembo F&R brake kit
  • Bilstein B16 suspension
  • 224Ms
  • Spare front brake disks
  • Original exhaust
  • Plus all the body panels, electronics, etc.

I’ll take the Pole Positions - how much do you want? I’m thinking £100 each for the seats and a fiver for the rails :D

Sorry, they are unique...as they're the only set to have had my unique arse/guffs in them (although they also have custom champagne alcantara inserts to replace the silver ones, as Recaro stopped offering the champagne inserts :headbang: )

Anyway, you'd have to take the sliders, side mounts and floor mounts too...and they're priceless :P

...and you'll have to wait until I actually break it...but I'll put your name on top of my hit list.

Priceless? More like pointless or perhaps even worthless whilst the car remains unusable :P
How many more years before it qualifies as a barn find? :D

It's completely usable...as a chicken coop

I just want to keep up the suspense, so no-one knows whether it'll be a shitty car or Z4MC chasing them on any particular trip :P

But it's closer than it's ever been to being roadworthy again...possibly, maybe, if it doesn't rain again or no-one else dies!

...and all this time the value (of the parts) is increasing

Does that mean it’ll be supercharged too?
I want to put a few miles on the replacement engine, heavy duty clutch & flywheel and other new bits before I put any extra horses through anything :P and also get my brain/responses back to manual Z4MC levels after years of auto 3-series diesel sloppiness.

Probably wise on all fronts, unless you enjoy being Zedless :D

Well I hope I'll see it at Crooklands in July.

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst :headbang:

Its a shame the values aren't higher given the low production numbers of them. I know it will never be as pure as a CSL but given the move to manual swap those cars now you'd think people would be looking at the Z4M as it has a few bits from the CSL.

I just had mine repaired and the garage couldn't find me a new front bumper they had to repair the original. I'm pretty sure the aluminium bonnet isn't available many or any places now. Its a shame BMW didnt seem to carry the parts for much of any time.

I suppose everything can be made in carbon now but a shame OEM parts aren't available.

I can only say as I've found but 90-95% of the parts I've ordered (admittedly mechanical rather than body parts) over the last 3 years whilst tidying up my MC have been available from the dealer, albeit it at a price...

There have been 2 bonnets for sale recently.

They come up often enough because lots of people have modified their 3.0SI to look like an M and like said there have been a few that have been broken.

Worth putting up wanted threads, people have them in the garage etc

Like I said about this car it would have cost too much to get it up to a decent condition, especially with it being a cat C. Pretty sure he bought it form copart fixed it up ran it for a few years and then decided to break it.

Thing is even yearly tax is getting ridiculous, say your M is worth 12k the tax is like 7.5% the value of the car. Thats one barrier for a lot of people actually keeping it on the road.

Oh yes good point I'd not thought about the tax aspect. I moved overseas and so only pay equivalent of £200 a year for road tax. Its annoying the tax is forcing these cars off the road.

I've put 90k miles on my M roadster. Hopefully I'll be able to hold on to it for a while longer.
