Whistling noise from 3.0si

My car seems to have developed a whistling noise on start up from under the engine.

I haven’t managed to work or where it’s coming from but it is rpm related as it does change when revving the engine. It happens at standstill, not just under load.

It does seem to go away once the engine is hot though.

Any ideas? Could it just be the cold weather and a squeaky belt?

No power loss though, as the Focus RS on a slip road found out yesterday.

I have just replaced the water pump and thermostat.

I’m on around 79k.

I’m on my way somewhere now and it’s stopped. I’ll try and get a video.

I did think it could be the alternator bearings as I had something similar on a previous car.

My first thought would be water pump bearings, but seeing as it’s electric and new..
