Whistle

Nictrix

Elite
 Paisley
Out today and half way through our journey we started to notice a noise.
Difficult to describe but sounds a little like a mix between a whistling noise, the noise a fan makes as it is starting up or the noise a plane makes as it is decelerating.
It seems to happen just for a second after pressing the accelerator after coasting but not every time.
It could be heard quite clearly over the noise of the engine.
Searches seem to suggest an air intake leak but no info for the E89 for where exactly to look.
Towards the end of the journey it seemed to disappear but not entirely sure it has gone. May just not have heard it as the roof was up for this part.
Any ideas?

Hope its not turbo related........... its not got one :D
Its still running as normal and no warning lights on the dash.

Oops didn't see the 23i sig ;)

I'd go with vacuum. Thought there's an outside chance of it being something bearing/clutch/transmission related.

Its pretty much got to be air related, it does it without any other changes ie. changing gear, dipping the clutch, its just when going back on the power after lifting off for bends and such.
Wasnt at huge speeds either just cruising along so not as if there was a huge load on the engine either.
I have looked at pics of other models and it clearly shows a small pipe with a split in it but cant seem to find anything like this on ours.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place or I will need to remove the airbox first to see it.
