Which Suspension kits ?

Hi there all, I have to replace the suspension and was wondering which kit to go for
What is the difference between standard type suspension and coilovers ?
I've heard the bilstein b12 kit is the one to have but is there a cheaper alternative which gives the same results.
I'm not looking to lower the car although if this is a side effect of replacement then so be it.
Advice please,

Well the standard suspension was OK given that it was 14 years old I was expecting to replace it anyhow and the steering felt woolly and light as the rear springs were well past it but now the near side front has decided to blow it's seal, so what I'm looking for is less of a harsh ride but still keeps the handling for fast road occasionally
The ride height is un important it's fine as it is.
Perhaps this b12 kit is the answer for longevity and a selling point should I ever the need too
