Which Suplex springs?!

I am trying to figure out what Suplex springs to get for my ´06 2,5si automatic.

The Suplex catalog states that i must have springs with number 06231 at the rear, but in front I can choose between number 06248 or 06249.

06249 for a 2.5si automatic with opts.
06248 for one without opts.
Opts means options?
Do you know the difference between the two springs?

Do you have a Sport or SE model?

At a guess the 249 is for Sport and 248 for SE

Edit: so both are for Sport suspension with the 248 being 9mm longer.

I dont know if i have a Sport or SE model. How do i find out?
Bought it in Germany 2 month ago. There was no talk about which model.
I have all original papers on the car, and nowhere is there anything mentioned about SE or Sport.
Maybe its english models? Here in denmark there have never been sold 2 different versions.

I have found some specifications on the springs;
6248 270mm long, 12,25mm thickness, 175mm outer diameter, 1,65kg
6249 276mm long, 12,50mm thickness, 172mm outer diameter, 1,71kg

The 6249 are 6 mm longer than the 6248, and 0,25mm thicker.
So the 6249 are longer and heavier to support more weight? What ekstra weight?

Where did you see that 6248 is 9mm longer than 6249?

Got the car with an unmounted set of Bilstein B4 which has to be fitted with the springs.

Ah yes, the SE and Sport thing is I believe mainly a UK thing.

Run your VIN number through a VIN decoder website, and see if your car has M-Sport Suspension as an option.

No M-sport Suspension as an option.
But I will install lower than standard springs, which brings me back to the question of whether to mount 48 or 49 Suplex springs ...

BMW doesnt only differentiate between sping type only on m-sport or non m-sport suspension.
They also differentiate between different options from factory. So the more options, the heavier the car ->different spring.
The bmw ETK (that is the official bmw parts catalog, you can find the web interface on the bmw site) has a module where you can put in your options from factory (like climate control, satnav, hifi version etc) and it will calculate the spring for your car.

Just differentiate between m-sport and stock spring is bad advice imho.

You can see on that buycarparts the OEM bmw part numbers. Those are the numbers that come out of the BMW ETK spring calculator.
For fronts everything ending on 78# is normal suspension and 62# is m-sport suspension (option code S704A).

So first you have to look up what option codes your vin has, then put that in the spring calculator, that'll give you a bmw OEM partnumber and compare that with the aftermarket supplier.

Im not able to locate it.
Maybe i should just go for the heavier spring as the car has a lot of extra equipment. And its an automatic.

Phone Suplex. They know the different options etc and can tell you the right part numbers. Just tell them you want M-Sport equivalents, not standard height.

Ended up buying Eibach Pro springs.
Very happy with the handling, comfort and looks.
