Which spark plug socket?

Hi,

I've bought new plugs for my 2012 E89 Z4 and I need the correct socket to remove the old plugs and fix the new ones. So far I purchased a Laser 16mm twelve sided socket 250mm length (wrong size, but didn't know until I got home), returned and purchased a SEALEY 14mm twelve side socket drive 250mm length and the plugs don't fit in the socket?

Can anyone tell me what socket i need? Not keen on a small socket with an extension bar, prefer a 250mm length socket/bar as a single piece, thanks.

Steve.

Yes, was not able to earlier as called in whilst at work. However, I've rang the shop where I bought the plugs and they are sourcing me the correct tool.

As far as I remember it is a 14 or 16mm 12 sided socket but you need one with a really narrow wall because of how tight the rocker cover is.
I used a set of motorbike sockets that worked fine but my standard ones wouldn't fit.

This is the one I got from Halfords, works a treat

Thanks,
They didn't have the correct size but i managed to buy the Laser one (Part No. 3681) from a motor factors nearby which was more expensive unfortunately, but at least I have the correct one now.

Still having trouble, the shaft of the socket whilst narrow doesn't fit all the way down. Got a mechanic friend coming tomorrow to lend me his socket that he says is a thin wall socket. Service requirements for my car are 60k for the plugs and it's got 66k so ready for doing.

Probs won't ever need to do again.

SOLVED!!!!

Used a thin walled small 14mm multi-point spark plug socket and I have managed to change the plugs. The socket still caught the shaft but at least it is done now and I should never have to do them again, well not on this car :D Thanks for you support.
